
We are excited to be able to offer a great collection of activities for our youth at TEIA. There are Camps for all ages, Tennis and Sailing lessons too! We have several new offerings for our older kids.

Kids Camp, ever popular with our 6 - 9 year old crowd, is Tuesday through Friday mornings from 9am-12noon. Kids Camp gives youngsters the opportunity to meet new friends and connect with old ones. Campers will have the chance to play indoor and outdoor games, get artistic with interesting craft and cooking projects. This summers’ themes include “Going Green, Field daze, Hawaiian Hullabaloo, Pirate week and more! The cost of Kids Camp is $50/wk or $300 for the season. Sign up on your child’s first day. * (Registration form required)
Our Preteen Program, for 10-12 year olds is available on a drop in basis from 3pm-5pm Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday & Friday. The Director and camp counselor will be at TEIA during those hours to supervise various activities including pool & ping-pong tournaments, Scattergories Games, Extreme Croquet, 101 things to do with Oreos, 3 on 3 Hoop tournaments, Bocci Games and baking projects and general socializing. It’s a great place to drop in, meet friends, and hang out on a summer afternoon. Wednesday night at the TEIA is pre teen Movie Night! Check bulletin boards to see what movie is playing. Please stop by from 7-9pm. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase. Some movies younger children may wish to attend, they will need to be supervised by an older family member. This program has no additional registration fees, included with a Jr or family membership.
Juniors!! Junior members ages 13-18 can enjoy dropping into TEIA during afternoons in addition to participating in two evening programs every week on Mondays (7-9pm) and Friday’s (8:30-10:30pm). These evenings include making dinner, bonfires, Board game nights, Cards, Movies and dances but are for the teens to help plan and organize for their own fun. No additional registration fee included with membership.
TEEN INFORMATION NIGHT We are hosting our first ever night to help the island youth find service opportunities and classes suited to expand their world and give back to the community. Maryann Shea, a high school guidance counselor in the Weston MA school district, will introduce the evening. A discussion of how to enhance your college applications, National Honor Society requirements and things to consider as you move beyond high school. Parents and teens are all welcome to join us at TEIA for some snacks and information. Monday July 5th 7pm . No fee.
ART WORKSHOPS We are piloting 3 art workshops this summer. A new session starts on each Monday in July, and runs through Wednesday mornings with a start time of 10 am on Mondays, and 9:30-12:30 on Tuesday and Wednesday. The sessions are: stenciling, acrylic painting and digital photography. Each session has a specific host artist teaching that workshop and the fee includes all supplies. This is open to anyone 10 years and older. There is a maximum number of students per class. If you have any questions please contact Chris Harper-Fahey.

“Multicolor Logo Stenciling Workshop”

Dates: Monday, July 5 through Wednesday, July 7, 2010 Class Times: Monday: 10:00am – 1:00pm; Tuesday-Wednesday: 9:30am to 12:30pm Cost: $90.00
This workshop will introduce students to various methods of stenciling by Peaks Island Printmaker Jane Banquer. Students will be encouraged to use their ingenuity and ideas to create their own personal logo concept. Designs will be enhanced using stencil brushes and acrylic paints to create a multi-color personal logo stencil on paper and applied to student t-shirts. All supplies and tee shirts are provided.
Note: Tee shirt sizes are requested in advance of class.
“Painting on Peaks Island”

Three day painting workshop by Peaks Island Painter Paul Brahms provides students the opportunity and guidance to develop expressive and technical skills in acrylic painting. Students will look at patterns, repetition and color to explore their imagination and respond intuitively to their external environment with various paint brushes and acrylic paints. Each student will produce at least one finished work of art. All painting supplies will be provided.
Note: Students are asked to bring a painting smock, old shirt or old tee shirt to class.“Basic Digital Photography For Beginners”

BABY SITTING COURSE The FRIENDS OF TEIA will offer the Red Cross Baby Sitting Certification Course this summer if there is enough interest. We need 10 to 12 children between 10 and 13 years old to sign up. It would be held on a Sunday and usually lasts from 9 to 4 pm. Please contact Stephanie at 2254 or email to be placed on a list. We would need to make a decision in early June if we are to try to offer this course. FRIENDS of TEIA covers all costs and it is open to all children. Talk it up!!!!
