ASSISTANT CLUB MANAGER

This is a five-day-per-week position, approximately 40 hours per week, under the direction of the club manager.  The schedule will be flexible and will include weekends and occasional evenings.

The assistant club manager is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Set-up for meetings and events
  • Lawn mowing and use of other maintenance equipment
  • Cleaning of facilities
  • Painting and other building and grounds maintenance tasks
  • Interaction with club leadership, especially in the absence of the club manager
  • Other tasks as assigned

The ideal candidate will have completed high school and will be able to demonstrate a history of working effectively to reach goals.  Especially important qualities are the ability to identify and complete tasks that need to be done and to break large projects into manageable tasks. Experience in a similar position is a plus.

Good communication skills and a record of good judgment, honesty and ethics are benchmarks for this position.  Respect for co-workers, club members and the community is a must.

Compensation is competitive and is partly based on experience.

WATER COUNSELOR

TEIA has a long history of running an educational and activity camp for young children.  This is a four-day-per-week position, approximately 32 hours per week, under the direction of the TEIA youth director.

The water counselor is responsible for a wide range of tasks and requirements, including:

  • Holding a lifeguard certification
  • Taking a creative approach and being responsible for planning water adventures and activities for children ages nine and up
  • Coordinating with the program director to design all water activities
  • Setting up and cleaning up at the end of each session
  • Maintaining the safety of all equipment
  • Making sure children are wearing life vests at all times while in the water
  • Wearing safety whistle at all times in the water
  • Having immediate access to lifeguard rescue tube in the event of a water emergency
  • Demonstrating appropriate water safety behavior at all times
  • Storing his/her mobile phone in the clubhouse and only using it during approved breaks or emergencies
  • Using walkie talkies to communicate with youth director consistently
  • Having access to first aid equipment on the beach at all times
  • Participating and being vigilant at all times.
  • Bringing any behavioral or other problem incident immediately to the youth director.
  • Other tasks as assigned

YOUTH COUNSELOR

The youth counselor is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Leading campers through hands-on activities
  • Keeping track of supplies for camp and conveying to the counselors any needs the camp has
  • Performing headcounts of participants throughout the day
  • Ensuring participants are safe (properly hydrated, playing areas are free of hazards, etc.).
  • Following all protocols noted by the youth director
  • Interacting with parents/guardians during drop-off and pick-up times
  • Assigning duties for daily set-up and clean-up of the camp area
  • Other tasks as assigned

YOUTH TENNIS INSTRUCTOR

TEIA, the Peaks Island sports and social organization, is looking for a lead instructor for its youth tennis program for summer 2024.

This is a seven-week position, approximately five hours per week, working with two classes comprised of five to 15 players.  The classes run Tuesdays and Thursdays with ages four to seven at 8:15 a.m. and ages eight to 12 at 9:00 a.m.

The ideal candidate will have completed high school and will have experience teaching children tennis skills.  We are seeking someone who can demonstrate the ability to encourage rather than criticize and can manage behavior in young people.

The instructor must be able to arrive at TEIA by 8:00 on instructional days.

An assistant instructor or volunteer will likely be available to help, under the direction of the youth tennis instructor.

TEIA requires that employees who deal with children must complete a CORI background investigation.
