Sailing Requirements & Contacts
REGISTRATION:
- Please email Sailing Director Liz Rollins at TEIAsailing@gmail.com if you have any questions about what class your child should register for.
- All sailing registration is now done online. Membership registration is now available. Sailing classes are a separate fee-based activity that can be added to a family or youth membership.
* Campership opportunities for full-time Peaks Island residents are arranged through Friends of TEIA. Please contact the Chairperson of Friends of TEIA, Gail Kelly, for more information and registration: friendsofteia@gmail.com
- Parents/guardians must print a PAPER COPY, fully complete the Sailing Health Form, and bring it to their sailor’s first class. Health insurance info is mandatory. Hard copies are still very necessary on the water – thank you!
Please note the following:
- Emergency contacts, medical information, and sailing class liability waivers must be signed before their first class by each sailor’s parent/guardian.
- A mandatory basic swim test must be passed on the first day.
- Students must bring their own US Coast Guard-approved lifejacket with whistle attached, closed-toed shoes, foul weather gear, sunscreen, and a water bottle.
- Classes will run rain or shine, but students will remain on shore in dangerous weather. *
- All students are expected to follow directions from instructors, show respect for others (and equipment), and always handle themselves with control. Discipline issues create serious safety issues on the water, and students who cannot comply with these rules will be asked to leave the program without a refund.
*Note – In the event of very severe weather predictions, classes may possibly be canceled in advance of a storm. Please check your email for updates, and do not send kids down to TEIA alone without checking in.
